A tour of Majorca

Spain is one of my favourite destinations in Europe…..and that includes the paradise Balearic Islands. In my opinion, they are the nearest thing to the Caribbean in Europe.

Would you like to go somewhere warm and sunny this summer? Somewhere that could be compared to Barbados or Cuba but would lead you in the direction of Europe…….? Let me tempt you to do a road trip of Majorca, like I did. Anyone I have talked to loves Majorca and its coves, isolated beaches, nightlife and seaside towns. Believe me….you don’t have to spend a fortune and it will give you the chance to discover one of Spain’s most popular islands.

Start planning your tour of Majorca by searching for airline tickets to Palma de Majorca Airport, which is the main gateway to the island. I would also recommend pricing flights to Barcelona and then taking the ferry from Barcelona Port to Majorca…..see which option works out the cheapest. If you find that the cheapest way is by flying to Barcelona, make sure you stay a few days to discover the city.

So…flights and boats arrive at Palma, the capital of Majorca, and so this is the perfect place to start your tour of the island. Spend a few days in the city and visit the most famous tourist attractions, such as the cathedral and Bellver Castle. This city is also the perfect spot for clubbing and eating out. If you decide to stay here for a few days, you will find a cheap hostel without any problems….however, I would recommend booking ahead if you are planning on staying between June and August.

After visiting Palma, you should head to the north-west coast, which is famous for its mountain range Serra de Tramuntana. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty where you can see olive groves and admire the rugged coastline, and discover what life is like in Majorca’s little towns and villages, which are renowned for their white walls and deserted streets during the midday sun.

Continue your journey to the north coast of the island to discover some of the most popular tourist resorts such as Pollenca and Alcudia….stop off to discover Majorca’s hidden coves, with crystal clear waters and white sand.

Go on…..a tour of Majorca with a group of friends is great fun. Hire a car and split the cost between 5…….you will get to sunbathe, swim, party and see some of Spain’s most beautiful assets.
